Female students uncover hidden webcams

14 December 2005

AMSTERDAM — Residents of a fraternity house for female students in the centre of Amsterdam were apparently unwitting participants in internet voyeurism.

Newspaper 'Het Parool' reported on Tuesday that the webcams were discovered by chance in two attic rooms when one of the students was painting a wall.

The two webcams, hidden in shelves on the wall, were connected to the attic in the building next door. When the police searched that building last week, they found three computers with a large number of files in the attic. No arrests were made.

Investigators are trying to establish how long the cameras have been operational. There is some speculation

they may have been in the dorm for years.

The current residents of the student house are all members of the same fraternity. They moved in two months ago. Eight other young women lived there previously.

The owner of the adjacent house is not a suspect in the house but it is thought he may have rented out the attic to another person.

A police spokesperson acknowledged that images of some of the female students have been found on the computers. Specialist 'cyber cops' have been brought in to check all the files and try to establish what was done with them.

"Checking through the computers will be an enormous task," the spokesperson said.

Dodgy indeed.Candid photography is mostly legal worldwide and a pic of a beautiful girl in a bikini that has already been shared by e beachful of people seems fine to me.Voyuerism though always has that seedy, unhealthiness about it.Everybody should have privacy within their own four walls unless they have been aware that a photo is being taken.I wouldnt go looking for this footage out of principal.

A little while ago I warned this other member that you could get in trouble (and in jail) for posting pics of people without their authorisation. Now I know we all posting and reposting from other sites so we can easly point to them I've the time comes, but still you should at least be a lit carefull with this pics. And it all depents on the laws from the country you live.

This is true esperopt.Generally speaking(tho france has different laws)public places are ok to take pics in,its then not too clever to attempt blatant upskirts or overly pervy pics.Anywhere private and this is where mall shooters need to be careful,is not entirely legal.Filming secretltyevery last detail of someones life is totally illegal and so should it be.
Ask yourself in each of those situations how would you feel and I think you'll agree that the law is about right.
