On October 1, 2005, Florida becomes a more dangerous place. That's when the Shoot First Law goes into effect, giving the people of Florida the right to use deadly force as a first resort when they feel threatened, even in a public place.

Yeah, too bad violent crime rates will drop like they did in Oklahoma, Colorado and Arizona ... and Florida will become a more dangerous place for violent criminals.

Senator Charles Ford regarding the Oklahoma law:

"It has been an unqualified success. Since the Make My Day Law came into force, burglary has declined by almost half in Oklahoma. In 1987, there were 58,333 cases; in 2000, just 31,661."
